props

I decided that I needed to get a few props for portrait, new born and cake bash photography. I found a fabulous shop called The Photo Candy Shoppe and I went to town! I now have a terrific kit! I have backdrops, flooring, baskets, halo's, wraps, cocoons, a tea cup, a Merry Christmas tin, an inflatable Elmo and other pieces of fabric. Now, I just need to market myself!

Here are some of my goodies

Oh, I received my grade for my first assignment- a High Distinction! My tutor said my assignment was a pleasure to mark! Wahoo for me!

Have a great night!

stress

I've been playing around with my macro lens today. I found the frog in the dog's water, so I rescued him. He paid me back by being very compliant!

We've still had no decent rain. We have been getting under storms most afternoons, which is nice... BUT! I am very grateful we have a drought management plan. Mr Fabulous is stressing about the weather. I live by the mantra "Worry about the things you can change". We can't change the weather, BUT we can change how we operate due to the weather. We have a plan, we've implemented it, we will be OK. STOP STRESSING!

Have a great afternoon.

home

Well I've been home for a week. I still don't feel like I've caught up on everything.

As much as Mr Fabulous likes to think that he 'cleans the house' before I come home, he really just does the superficial stuff- so that it looks good when I walk through the door. There were quite a few loads of washing that needed doing, as well as a couple of loads I bought back with me, plus there were the two spare beds, our bed as he had not changed those sheets for the month I was away. Plus towels... I think I did 15 loads of washing in the first two days that I was home! FAR OUT!

Then there is the office work that piles up. Then there is getting back on top of the garden. Then there is the dogs that want some of your attention. Then there is the cat that has been terribly bored and lonely, that wants attention. Then there is the bird that wants some attention. Then there is the husband who wants some attention. Then there is everything else that you're involved in- Arts Council, Rural Fire Service, Brave to Shave, Photography Groups... the list goes on. Add to that cattle work. I want to go away again. OH that's right- I AM!

There is an information morning on in Townsville on Tuesday 19th on MSA (meat standards Australia) which is a grading system for meat. We sell some cattle for MSA and I am interested in what is happening and what I may learn.

Then I am away again for a procedure with my Dr on the 1st March. It is to do with IVF and I have had it before. I will be having a 'scratch', or 'roughing up' of my uterine wall. It has proven to be beneficial for women with 'non-responsive' uteruses. It didn't work for me last time, but that's not to say it won't work for me this time. And at this stage in the game, ANYTHING is worth a go, or two:-)

One of the lenses we bought as my Christmas present arrived the other day. It is a 60mm macro lens! I am still waiting on the 16-35mm wide angle lens. It apparently is very popular and the company I bought them through is waiting for Nikon to send some to Australia. I paid for it in December and it is now February... I am getting rather annoyed!

Anyway, here is a shot of Austin's eye taken with the macro lens. He was getting rather annoyed with me bing in his face! However I love the detail in his eye!

Have a great day!

Homeward bound

Well, my time here has come to an end and I will be embarking on the bittersweet trip home Wednesday.

I cannot wait to be home with my husband, my cat, my dogs, my bird, my bed, my shower, my toilet, my lounge, my kitchen... However, I would have been happy to forego all of that if we received the answer we desperately wanted. Obviously, its STILL not our time!

I am very pleased to say that I have checked and double checked and it seems that the gremlins are no longer in the website! WAHOO! I must admit that I am very pleased with it and myself! The hours of frustration was worth it afterall! Go to www.countrypix.com.au And to celebrate I am offering $100 1 hr portrait sittings if the sittings are booked by the end of FEBRUARY!!!!

The Australian Photography magazone holds monthly photographic competitions. Each month has a different theme. This month's theme is Trees and the images will be posted in the April issue. I have 2 fabulous tree shots that I wanted to enter... however when I checked the due date, I was 1 day too late. 1 DAY!!! I now have the due date of these comp's committed to memory- the 2nd of every month!! Next month's theme is Industrial and they will be published in the May issue.

This is an 'industrial' themed pic that I took this morning. Not sure if it will be the one I enter, however I thought that I would share it here

Anyway, have a great evening!
