mulberries

Well... I'm vague, tired and HUNGRY! That means that the medication has certainly taken hold!

I had two mulberries transferred yesterday. That's what we refer to our embryos as! Transfer day really is an awful day. Apparently embryos don't like soap, deodorant, perfume, shampoo etc etc, so that means that I have be legs up, all 'a la naturale'. I HATE IT! However, I am sure my Doctor is immune to IT all.

After being through IVF, I will be fine when delivering my babies. I am used to lieing with my 'best' angle to the world! First, my Dr 'prepares' me, then the embryologist gets the mulberries into a long 'straw-like' contraption. This can take awhile and all this time you're still showing your best angle. Then, after they've been transferred via the long straw-like contraption, the embryologist goes back to the 'incubator' and checks that they haven't escaped from the straw and decided to stay put. All up, I think I was legs up for about 10mins, all while my Dr is holding the speculum in place! I nearly got a fit of the giggles yesterday! So, I started some small talk... "Are your kids looking forward to going back to school?", "What's with this heat?"

After 'the' transfer, I am kept laying down for about 15-20 minutes. Then the nurse comes in and tells me what I should and shouldn't do. No heavy lifting, drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest, drink sustagen and gatorade every day, increase protein intake, watch for constipation! What I get out of all that is that I can eat plenty of steak and rest ALOT!

Vagueness is probably the worst side effect. I was half to the baptism I had to go to Saturday, 1.5hrs from where I am currently, and I realised that I left all the medication that needs to be refrigerated in the fridge at my friends house. SO, I had to turn around and come back. THEN... upon leaving the motel on Sunday morning, i left my medication in the fridge in my room! FAR OUT!! Luckily my in-laws were driving through Townsville, so they very kindly brought my medication to me. I have plenty more 'vague' stories to share with you, so I might do that over the course of the next few entries.

ANYWAY, here are a couple of pics from the Baptism on Saturday

Have a lovely afternoon xx
